I’m aware not all of the members of Different Strokes Southampton are on social media. If you are not on social media, you will not yet be aware that Jo has been fortunate to receive the Peer Support Champion Award 2021 as part of volunteers week from Different Strokes. Below is a short message from Jo:

I just wanted to say that I am delighted to volunteer for our Southampton group alongside Andy and Ranj. Each of us bring different skills, experiences and perspectives to the group and it definitely would not run so well without each of us. However, I just wanted to say that I’m hugely honoured and humbled to receive this award.

Different Strokes Southampton really helped me to adapt to my life post stroke and now I enjoy trying to help others move forward with their life post stroke in the same way that I personally benefitted from this support myself… and still do. I have been fortunate to have met some wonderful individuals along the way and now consider that I not only have my blood family but my stroke family too!

So here’s to all of us at Different Strokes Southampton, each and every one of us, there most definitely is life after stroke!!
