Meet the team
We have personal experience of the realities of life after stroke. All of our volunteers are stroke survivors, family members, or have a close personal connection to stroke. We recognise that younger stroke survivors and family members are the experts in stroke recovery and rehabilitation. We consult with them regularly to make sure that our services are relevant and personalised.
Ranj Parmar
Ranj is treasurer of Different Strokes Southampton. He acts as a lead contact as well as a coordinator for the group. Ranj is employed as a principal business analyst and had his stroke in September 2009, aged 39. Ranj had a subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH).

Andy Clay
Andy is chairman of Different Strokes Southampton. He also acts a lead contact as well as coordinator for the group. Andy is employed as a horticulturalist and had his stroke in August 2009, aged 40 years. Andy’s stroke was a clot.

Jo Elliott
Jo is secretary of Different Strokes Southampton. She also acts as a lead contact as well as coordinator for the group. She was employed as a registrar and had her stroke in July 2014, aged 45. Jo’s stroke was a clot.
